How to use this tool

  1. Choose UTF-8 text or a local file.
  2. Optionally enter an expected SHA-256 digest.
  3. Calculate the digest and read the exact-match result.

A worked example

SHA-256 of the UTF-8 bytes abc → ba7816bf8f01cfea414140de5dae2223b00361a396177a9cb410ff61f20015ad.

What to know

Text whitespace and line endings are significant. Files are hashed as exact bytes. SHA-256 is not encryption; an expected digest is only as trustworthy as its source.

Supported inputs and limits

Files up to 20 MiB; text up to 100,000 characters.
