A worked example

A 1600 × 900 image resized to width 800 with aspect lock exports 800 × 450 pixels.

What to know

Fit pads to the requested dimensions; fill crops edges. JPEG fills transparency with your chosen background. Browser color conversion and resampling can alter pixels. The original file stays unchanged.

10 MiB source; 12 megapixels and 12,000 pixels per side for source and output.
